The second level of Western Usui Reiki is for those 1st Degree Reiki practitioners who wish to deepen their experience of and commitment to using Western Usui Reiki in their lives. Typically in Western Usui Reiki there is a wide range of 1 month, 6 months, 1 year and even many years between Western Usui Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 training, as readiness for Western Usui Reiki 2 is individual.  I myself took Western Usui Reiki 2 training one month after my 1st Degree Western Usui Reiki Class and I highly recommend the intensity back-to-back Western Usui Reiki training for Western Usui Reiki 1 & 2 to my students and generally schedule my Western Usui Reiki 1 classes so that a Western Usui Reiki 2 training is available within a month or less of completion of 1st degree.

The 2nd degree Western Usui Reiki class includes three additional initiations by the Reiki master and instruction in and discussion of the conscious use of the three Western Usui Reiki symbols that amplify the harmony, synchronicity, flow and intensity of the transfer and embodiment of Western Usui Reiki energy. These symbols enable the 2nd degree student to send energy treatments  through space and time. The traditional fee for Western Usui Reiki 2 is $500.  But no one should ever be discouraged from asking for Western Usui Reiki 2 because of current financial lack  or shortfall. The deposit for any Western Usui Reiki 2 class is $150 per participant. Western Usui Reiki 2 Classes may be repeated an unlimited number of times for a $75 audit fee.

What is essential in the Western Usui Reiki 2 initiation is the coming together in time and space of symbols and an initiating master capable of transmitting the energetic essence of Western Usui Reiki 2 to the Reiki student. How do you choose a Western Usui Reiki master for Reiki 2? In general we highly recommend Western Usui Reiki masters who are members or former members of the Reiki Alliance.  We also suggest that you can rely on other Western Usui Reiki masters who can trace their lineage and in particular their mastery directly back to Hawayo Takata.  These are usually masters who offer straight-forward, stand alone, single level, no-nonsense, in-person Western Usui Reiki classes, and whose commitment to Western Usui Reiki is long-standing.  I have been a Western Usui Reiki master since 1988.

When asked which version of Reiki is better Western Usui Reiki or Jikiden Reiki, I always recommend both.
