Western Usui Reiki Mastery

Reiki mastery is the third and final level of Western Usui Reiki It is the teaching level of Western Reiki. Western Usui Reiki mastery involves a one-on-one apprenticeship with the Western Usui Reiki master over a period of at least one year and in our practice can last up to six years. In Western Usui Reiki the master's initiation is truly a life altering event for both the initiating master and the master candidate.

The fee set by Hawayo Takata for the Western Usui Reiki master's initiation was $10,000. A very large energy exchange! The largeness of this amount has  stimulated more than a few Reiki master candidates to take a look at prosperity issues. We believe that far too much has been made of it. The controversy surrounding money and the Western Usui Reiki master's initiation appears less about the monetary value of the Western Usui Reiki master's initiation, and more about the Reiki master candidate's beliefs about the nature, extent and availability of prosperity in the universe and fear of lack. The core issue is commitment to Western Usui Reiki as a healing practice.

There is currently no lack of publication -- on the web and in books -- of varying Western Usui Reiki 2 and master symbols. Our view is that self-initiation as a Western Usui Reiki master is unlikely. What is usually required is the juncture in time and space of Western Usui Reiki symbols, an Western Usui Reiki initiating master capable of transmitting the energetic essence of Reiki mastery and a master's candidate ready to receive it. For us the Western Usui Reiki master's commitment is based on a personal relationship between Reiki master's candidate and initiating master that is ongoing.  We encourage you to have the courage to engage in a an honest and personal conversation with us about Western Usui Reiki mastery, both its benefits and its costs.

Further Jikiden Reiki Studies:J Shihan kaku (Apprentice Teacher) and Shihan (Teacher)

If after completing Jikiden Reiki Shoden and Okuden, you wish to go on to teach others how to use Jikiden Reiki, you may want to become a teacher.

Students wishing to teach Jikiden Reiki seminars must know the contents of the Shoden and Okuden seminars very well and be able to recite the Gokai (The five Reiki Principles) in Japanese. If you intend to take the Shihan Kaku course, it is required that you attend at least two Shoden and Okuden seminars one of which must be taken with Tadao Yamaguchi or another person that he has designated as Dai Shihan, or initiating Shihan, as well as fulfilling the requirements below, so that a Jikiden student feels confident in teaching the material involved. Students are expected to prepare well to maintain the high standard of Jikiden Reiki teachers.

There are two teacher levels in Jikiden Reiki. A Shihan Kaku (assistant teacher) can teach Shoden level seminars. In order to apply to take the Shihan Kaku seminar a Jikiden Reiki student must first treat at least 40 human beings hands-on for a minimum of 120 hours and document each treatment and giving a long treatment synopsis for at least 10 of the 40 clients. This year the Shihan Kaku seminar cost about $1412 USD.

After a teaching at least 10 students Jikiden Shoden over a period of 6 months to a year or more and getting written feedback from at least 10 students, an assistant teachers can apply to take the Shihan seminar to become Jikiden Reiki Shihan (teacher) and then may teach both Shoden and Okuden level seminars. Part of becoming a Shihan involves buying the Gokai No Sho scroll and pictures of Usui sensei, Hayashi sensei, and Chiyoko sensei. The cost of the Gokai No Sho and pictures is the monetary equivalent of 300, 000 Japanese yen or about $3,243 USD This year the Shihan seminar  $780 USD. This is essentially a franchise to teach Jikiden reiki. All Jikiden Shihan and Shihan kaku are registered centeral with the Jikiden Reiki Institute, Kyoto, Japan.
